Winai lined up for NHSO post
Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri will probably nominate former Treasury Department chief Winai Wittawatkaravet to sit on the National Health Security Office board, a ministry source says.
However, the move will not mollify the Rural Doctors Society or its supporters on the NHSO board, who have already black-balled Mr Witthaya's previous nomination of a financial expert.
As NHSO board chairman, Mr Witthaya earlier proposed Chotisak Asapaviriya, head of TV Direct Indochina Co, at a meeting on Feb 17.
However, the nomination was strongly opposed by rural doctors citing Mr Chotisak's perceived links to politicians.
The meeting was postponed until next Tuesday.
The source said Mr Witthaya would now propose Mr Winai, who recently retired from the Treasury Department, at the meeting.
